Week two!

Hello all. We hope that everyone is settling into the school year. We have had questions about how to see what assignments are due for you (or your child). Here is a one minute video on how to use the "to-do list" in google classroom. Video link. (If this link does not work, go to YouTube and google to-do list in google classroom). All teachers are adding their assignments to google classroom. For students who are absent from their Social Studies and/or Language Arts class, if there is no homework that day, there is a short video added to google classroom of what we discussed (NOT recorded during class) OR the assignment is posted in google classroom.

MATERIALS pick up is Wednesday from 9-10:00 am or 1:00-2:00 pm for 6th grade families. Feel free to go at a different time if these hours do not work.

In Social Studies, we are pushing for students to tie the past to the future and how we see the past today. We had already had some thoughtful conversations: "What symbolizes power today? How do the wealthy groups stay in power?"

In Language Arts, we discussed parts of our identities and will next share the story of our names. What do they mean, where did they come from, do they have significance? Savion Castro, an MMSD school board member and Madison public school graduate, will join our ELA classes from time to time throughout the year. It is a pleasure to have him join our virtual community.
